Introduction
Different regions and cultures use functional bio-materials with their unique materials.
In the era of well-being, the need to explore and develop health-functional materials preferred by people from domestic resources is strongly emerging in all walks of life. It is known that there is a wide variety of natural materials available in the mountains of Korea, and these natural resources can be cultivated and used everywhere.
Research into these functionalities is still in its beginning stages, and it is becoming common knowledge that the latest functionalities are derived from natural resources. Therefore, functional research on plants and microorganisms is active as one of the country's leading technology industries. Various disciplines and technologies need to converge to explore and develop valuable functional new materials from various biomaterials.
To achieve this goal, the Department of Crop Science explores new materials through genetic breeding and biotechnology, functional new material discovery, and isolation and identification technologies. We aim to cultivate the research and industrial talent necessary for the environmentally sound cultivation, production technology, and food use of these new materials.
