The College of Social Sciences at KU was established in 2018 by merging the existing colleges of Political Science, Business Administration, and Global Convergence. The integration aims to revitalize interdisciplinary research and convergence education by bringing related departments from several colleges under one college. As of 2018, there are 7 departments: the Department of Political Science, the Department of Economics, the Department of Public Administration, the Department of International Trade, the Department of Applied Statistics, the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies, and the Department of Global Business. There are more than 100 professors and lecturers and more than 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students are researching and studying. Social science is a field of study that focuses on the scientific study of social phenomena.
Each academic field focuses on different social phenomena and approaches to these phenomena. However, all social sciences aim to solve significant social issues through an in-depth understanding of human society. Although social science is classified as a primary academic field along with liberal arts and natural sciences, it is characterized by a greater emphasis on scientific approaches compared to liberal arts and a greater awareness of the multifaceted nature of human beings compared to natural sciences.

Greetings!
The College of Social Sciences at KU was newly established in 2018 by merging the existing College of Political Science, College of Business Administration, and College of Global Convergence, and was inherited from KU's predecessor, the Joseon Institute of Politics.
Today's public policy is not just a matter of one discipline but involves a variety of interrelated fields. Therefore, policymaking is a multidimensional governance process that resolves various interests and conflicts, and the results should achieve practical goals such as democracy and efficiency. Therefore, the College of Social Sciences is committed to cultivating convergent talents in line with the times through a multidisciplinary system of 7 departments: Department of Political Science, Department of Economics, Department of Public Administration, Department of International Trade, Department of Applied Statistics, Department of Interdisciplinary Studies, Department of Global Business, as well as flexible, collaborative learning courses and comparative courses directly related to the field.
We invite you to take a closer look at the department' descriptions on our website and seize the opportunity to become one of the leading public leaders responsible for the public policies of our society in the future.
