Introduction
The scope of physics is vast and profound, ranging from the subatomic microscopic world to the immense universe. Physics is a key ingredient of all natural sciences and provides an indispensable foundation for all modern technologies. Physics forms the basis of not only chemistry, biological sciences, geology, astronomy, meteorology, and oceanography but also material science, computer technology, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, aerospace engineering, and medical engineering.
The School of Physics at Konkuk University (KU) has two subdivisions - the Division of Physics and the Division of Quantum Phases and Devices. In 2008, our school was chosen to be one of the first class teams of the World Class University (WCU) project. Through this project, we were able to invite six internationally eminent scholars to collaborate with our Korean faculty members and establish new academic programs in key growth-generating fields. In addition, nanomaterial development, semiconductors, particle physics phenomenology, gravitation theory. superconductor experiments, microwave experiments and optics are actively studied.
From the curriculum of the School of Physics at KU, students can obtain not only an extensive knowledge of the natural sciences in general, but also gain professional experience for the application of their knowledge in industries in telecommunication, electronics and bio-medicine.
