The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies aims to cultivate creative, practical leaders who will lead the 4th Industrial Revolution as high-level government officials, professional diplomats, and lawyers. Since 2018, the former Public Affairs Major of the College of Interdisciplinary Studies has been reorganized and operated as the current Department of Interdisciplinary Studies. The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies offers an advanced interdisciplinary curriculum that enables students to complete various programs in the social sciences while ensuring core competencies for each field of social career (government, public corporations, law, etc.). In particular, we offer a curriculum that allows students to cultivate creative and humanistic skills, as well as high-quality, career-oriented training. First- and second-year students take introductory courses in the most representative social science majors, as well as core courses that foster creative and logical thinking, comprehension, and problem-solving skills. Also, humanities-based liberal arts classes are offered to expand the breadth of knowledge in the social sciences, making the curriculum unique to the Department of Interdisciplinary Human Resources. The 3rd and 4th year students select and take courses in law, economics, public administration, political science, and sociology. They follow their interests and careers to develop convergent professional competencies for future social leaders.
In addition to the regular curriculum, the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies offers professional and practical comparative programs and close consultation and guidance. In addition to taking regular courses, students can participate in various study clubs and competitions. This allows students to strengthen their creative and communication skills, which may be lacking in regular classes, and significantly improve their learning outcomes. Also, from the first year, students will receive close one-on-one guidance from professors in the department to refine their desired career path and strengthen their motivation to achieve, thus preparing them for a systematic career. Upon graduation, students will earn a Bachelor of Public Policy degree. While earning this degree, students will build the foundation necessary to take the level 5 public service examination (formerly known as the administrative higher civil service examination), which is the gateway to the high-level public service careers, the Diplomatic Academy for professional diplomats, law school, public enterprises, and various international organizations.
