Biotechnology (BT) engineering is a discipline that deals with engineering technology that applies various knowledge gained from studying living organisms to benefit human life. It has been one of the most prominent disciplines in recent years, along with information and communication technology (IT) engineering and nanotechnology (NT) engineering. Founded in 1967, the department educates advanced biotechnology professionals who can work in the industrial field using living organisms and in cutting-edge biotechnology-related research. Students will acquire knowledge in biochemistry, industrial microbiology, biochemical engineering, fermentation engineering, microbial culture engineering, bioenergy engineering, recombinant genetic protein engineering, molecular cell biology, nanobiotechnology, and bioengineering practice design.

Educational Goals
The program is designed to train excellent engineers for the 21st-century bio-industry who specialize in bioprocess engineering, biomedical engineering, bio-energy, bio and fermented foods, and biomaterials.
In particular, the program specializes in bioprocess engineering, an essential structural element for the characterizing related fields, related biotechnology and management standards, and manufacturing practices for biotechnology-related industries. Upon graduation, students can work as professional engineers or specialized researchers and become international leaders who play an essential role in developing industry and society. Here's a summary of them.
- 1Developing engineers who can lead the bioprocess engineering-related research and academic communities
- 2Educating engineers with creative and practical skills based on a solid foundation in natural sciences
- 3Providing an education that allows students to develop moral and sincere qualities along with a sense of globalization
