The department focuses on interdisciplinary studies, where students learn about the harmony between nature and humanity. The Department of Geography has a regular academic field trip program to explore and experience various places in the country. In addition to the regular curriculum, professors conduct various extracurricular programs to help students in their professional careers. Students can cross-apply for admission to liberal arts and natural sciences.

Department Goals
Primary Objective
We cultivate human resources who have comprehensive knowledge of both physiography and human geography and who can contribute to the development of the country and solve practical problems by systematically understanding the local environment.
Secondary Objective
- The course consists of 3 tracks: Regional Development, Global Environment, and Geographic Research.
- Students will study regional subjects such as Korean geography and applied subjects such as GIS and geo-data analysis as basic subjects for each track.
- The Regional Development Track is geography-based and provides a roadmap for students to enter research institutes and various public organizations.
- The Global Environment Track focuses on natural geography and prepares students for careers in natural environment organizations and companies such as the Korea Meteorological Administration.
- The Geographic Research Track focuses on topics such as cultural geography and tourism geography and helps students to pursue careers in fields such as the Cultural Heritage Administration, Korea Tourism Organization, and travel agencies.
Educational Goals
Geography is a discipline that involves the rational pursuit of theory to identify the structure, function, and change process of the surface space, which is the stage of human activities, and the basic scientific theory and practice of earth sciences to solve natural and human environmental problems. It focuses on the characteristics of human living space through the continuous interrelation of natural environment, socio-economic environment, and cultural traditions. The study of geography includes natural aspects such as topography, climate, hydrology, and social and economic factors such as urban and industrial locations, nature, and transportation.
