The Department of English Education at KU was established in 2009 to provide the optimal educational environment, curriculum, and faculty to foster innovative and competent English teachers by maximizing the potential of each student. Through small and intensive individualized instruction, we will help students achieve a high level of English proficiency. In addition, through rigorous and efficient preparation for teacher certification exams, the Department of English Language Education is opening a new era of English education in Korea.

Educational Goals
To qualify as an English teacher, students must complete a minimum of 22 credits from the following College-designated liberal arts courses. Students must complete educational service (1 credit) in their sophomore year, on-site teaching observation (1 credit) in their junior year, and teaching practicum (2 credits) in their senior year. In addition, students must complete the Understanding of Children with Special Needs (2 credits) and Field Education Practice (2 credits) in the 3rd year. Students must complete 7 or more courses from the remaining education theory courses.
