In the Industrial Design Department at Konkuk University, we foster creative thinking, effective communication, and purposeful experimentation, shaping an inclusive design education that not only enriches lives but also nurtures interdisciplinary talents, ready to lead in this dynamic era. Our commitment to a comprehensive and inclusive design education program establishes strategic intersections with diverse fields, ensuring that students are well-prepared to adeptly navigate the evolving challenges of our times.
Our curriculum transcends traditional boundaries, offering in-depth studies in human, social, technological, and cultural realms. We are dedicated to developing professionals who excel in design planning, curation, and realization, thereby making meaningful contributions to society. By promoting expansive and flexible thinking, our program empowers students to generate and critically evaluate ideas that shape our world. All undergraduate students in our program enroll in foundational studies essential for the field of industrial design, in addition to courses in design thinking and expression. Rigorous Liberal Arts courses complement studio learning, followed by a major course of study in a specific design discipline starting in the sophomore year. Throughout this process, students not only develop design thinking skills but also cultivate the ability to devise solutions for problems across various fields, discover connections through curation skills, and enhance their professional design implementation abilities
Our department's educational program adopts an integrated design education model that maximizes expertise in each design domain while also promoting interdisciplinary exploration within the field of design. Furthermore, we aim to establish a harmonious connection between broad cultural and interdisciplinary education, encompassing human society, technology, philosophy, and culture. Through this approach, our educational objectives include nurturing design planners who create new experiences and enriched lives, curatorial designers who generate new values based on their curatorial abilities, and innovative industrial designers who lead and adapt to the evolving industrial landscape.

Educational Goals
This department provides a balanced and in-depth educational program that includes design theory and practice, as well as practical training in the use of various media to educate competent prospective designers who can contribute to society. In particular, we maximize the effectiveness of education through an integrated design education model that emphasizes expertise in each area of design while openly crossing the boundaries between different design areas. Furthermore, through the organic integration of liberal arts education and major education on humans, society, technology, philosophy, and culture, we aim to foster designers' awareness of their social roles and to combine professionalism and creativity.
