Introduction of Overseas History and Culture Tour
The Overseas History and Culture Tour is a program organized by the KU Student Council that allows students to explore the remaining historical sites of Korea in other countries and experience the culture of those countries.
Destinations
Explore countries surrounding South Korea, such as Japan, China, Russia, and Southeast Asia.
Meaning and Purpose
- To explore areas with historical, political, socio-cultural, and other issues surrounding Korea.
- To cultivate the spirit of pioneering and challenge based on the appropriate historical perspective.
- To increase understanding of foreign countries To build pride in Konkuk University
Schedule and Highlights
- The application and selection process is during the 2st semester, followed by field trips during the semester.
- The program runs for 4-5 days, which may be shortened or extended depending on the region and the program's theme.
- The central theme will be determined each year to reflect the social issues in our society, and the countries to be visited will be selected accordingly.
- Neighboring countries on the Korean Peninsula (China, Japan, Russia, Southeast Asia, etc.)
- Students will be assigned with 3 to 4 advisors, including local experts, to prioritize student safety.
The program is subject to change according to local conditions.
This program is not for students to explore the area individually but to explore the area in a group with a guide (faculty or staff).
Eligibility
- Undergraduate students enrolled a minimum of 2 semesters and a maximum of 8 semesters at the time of tour announcement.
- Students enrolled in the College of Veterinary Medicine a minimum of 2 semesters and a maximum of 12 semesters.
- Transfer students enrolled in at least 2 semesters at KU
- Exemptions
- Participants in overseas programs (New Frontier, Dr. Jung Program)
- Participants who have participated in 2 or more overseas programs organized by KU
- Participants in other Student Council overseas programs
- Participants in the overseas program of the same year
[Example: International Office Overseas Program, Overseas Volunteer Program, etc.] - Credit exchange students, part-time enrolled students, Future Knowledge Education Center students
- Cancellation of Selection
- Failure to pay the participation fee and visitation deposit after final acceptance
- Failure to undergo a medical examination
- Failure to attend orientation, photo and video shoot, and pre-training events such as induction ceremonies.
- Those who do not have the qualities to participate in the program.
- Those who take a leave of absence after the final selection
The above qualifications are subject to change depending on the program announcement, so please check the program announcement
- The tour area may be changed before departure or during the tour due to local conditions (natural disasters, war risk, disease-infected areas, etc.).
- Before and after departure, you must complete assignments such as video production and reports.
- Group tasks and promotions related to overseas educational tours
- Visit reports and episodes, UCC production, etc.
- Advance report and performance report
- Other activities suggested by the Student Support Team, etc.
- You are responsible for any problems caused by mistakes in filling out or not submitting any documents.
